Abstract
Film dokumenter Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso menimbulkan
memengaruhi cara penonton memahami keadilan dan kebenaran./The documentary Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso has generated
public controversy for presenting a narrative that differs from the official legal
verdict issued in Jessica Wongso's 2016 case. The film reshapes public perception
regarding truth, justice, and the role of the media in framing events. This research
aims to analyze how the narrative and its elements are constructed in the film in a
way that influences the audience’s understanding of the characters and events
portrayed. This study applies the Narrative Paradigm theory by Walter Fisher as the
primary theoretical framework, supported by the Social Construction of
Reality theory by Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann, with a focus on two main
elements: narrative coherence and narrative fidelity. The research uses a qualitative
approach within the constructivist paradigm. Data collection was conducted
through visual documentation, film observation, and supported by secondary
sources such as news articles and academic literature. The findings indicate that the
documentary constructs a narrative that is emotionally and ideologically powerful,
while also questioning the objectivity of the legal process and the media’s role in
shaping public opinion. In conclusion, the film not only presents a story but also
serves as a rhetorical tool that influences the audience’s understanding of justice
and truth.
