Abstract
Indonesia menghadapi tantangan terkait hilangnya kawasan hutan, terutama hutan primer, yang terjadi antara tahun 2010 dan 2020. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara faktor sosial dan ekonomi terhadap tree cover loss di Indonesia menggunakan metode Partial Least Square (PLS) dan regresi spasial, termasuk Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR) dan Spatial Error Model (SEM). Data yang digunakan mencakup beberapa pulau besar di Indonesia, yaitu Pulau Jawa, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra, serta Papua dan Maluku. Penelitian ini juga menganalisis ketergantungan spasial antarprovinsi pada masing-masing pulau, yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh spasial yang berbeda-beda. Pada Pulau Jawa dan Sulawesi, model PLS memberikan hasil yang lebih baik, sedangkan pada Pulau Kalimantan, model spasial SAR menunjukkan performa yang lebih unggul, dan pada Pulau Sumatra serta Papua dan Maluku, model spasial SEM menunjukkan performa yang lebih baik. Perbandingan model dilakukan menggunakan nilai AIC dan adjusted R-Squared. Untuk memberikan gambaran lebih lanjut, sebagai contoh di Pulau Sumatra, hasil analisis dengan menggunakan SEM menunjukkan bahwa setiap peningkatan jumlah penduduk sebesar 1.000 jiwa diperkirakan akan menambah tree cover loss sebesar 7,166 hektare di suatu provinsi, dengan asumsi variabel lain konstan. Selain itu, nilai lambda sebesar 0,5397 menunjukkan bahwa nilai error di suatu provinsi di Pulau Sumatra akan meningkat sebesar 0,5397 kali rata-rata error dari provinsi-provinsi yang menjadi tetangga, dengan asumsi variabel lain konstan. Hal ini menunjukkan pentingnya penggunaan pendekatan spasial dalam menganalisis tree cover loss di Indonesia. /
Indonesia faces significant challenges related to the loss of forest areas, particularly primary forests, which occurred between 2010 and 2020. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social and economic factors and tree cover loss in Indonesia using Partial Least Squares (PLS) and spatial regression methods, including the Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR) and the Spatial Error Model (SEM). The data covers several major islands in Indonesia, including Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Sumatra, Papua, and Maluku. The study also examines spatial dependence among provinces on each island, revealing varying spatial influences. On Java and Sulawesi, the PLS model produced better results. On Kalimantan, the SAR spatial model performed better, while on Sumatra and on Papua and Maluku, the SEM spatial model showed superior performance. Model comparisons were conducted using the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and adjusted R-squared values. For example, on the island of Sumatra, the SEM analysis suggests that an increase of 1,000 people in the population is estimated to result in an additional 7,166 hectares of tree cover loss in a province, assuming other variables are held constant. Furthermore, a lambda value of 0.5397 indicates that the error term in a province on Sumatra increases by 0.5397 times the average error of its neighboring provinces, assuming other variables remain constant. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating spatial approaches in analyzing tree cover loss in Indonesia.
