Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji dampak pemanfaatan Google Classroom, gaya belajar, dan gender terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Bahasa Inggris di STT Immanuel Sintang. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi gap dalam penggunaan teknologi dan penerapan metode pengajaran yang kurang optimal dalam meningkatkan prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan desain survei korelasional, penelitian ini menguji hubungan antara variabel-variabel tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan Google Classroom, dan gender tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Namun, ditemukan adanya pengaruh negatif dari gaya belajar (variasi pembelajaran) dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa, di mana penerapan variasi pembelajaran justru mengurangi hasil akademik mahasiswa (nilai F hitung (6,32) > F tabel (4,07), p-value = 0,02 < 0,05, koefisien regresi sebesar -1,18). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun teknologi menawarkan kemudahan, faktor lain seperti kesesuaian media dan metode dengan karakteristik dan keterbiasaan mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran sangat penting. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar pelatihan bagi mahasiswa diperkuat, serta variasi pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif dan beragam perlu diterapkan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Selain itu, penelitian lebih lanjut dengan sampel yang lebih besar dan variatif dapat memperkuat temuan ini dan menggali lebih dalam faktor-faktor lain yang berpengaruh terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa. / This study examines the impact of Google Classroom utilization, learning styles, and gender on the academic achievement of students in the English course at STT Immanuel Sintang. The research identifies a gap in the use of technology and the suboptimal implementation of teaching methods in improving students’ academic performance. Using a quantitative approach with a correlational survey design, the study tests the relationships among these variables. The findings indicate that the use of Google Classroom and gender do not have a significant effect on students’ academic achievement. However, a negative effect of learning styles (variation in instructional methods) on academic achievement was found, where the application of varied learning strategies actually reduced students’ academic outcomes (calculated F value (6.32) > critical F value (4.07), p-value = 0.02 < 0.05, regression coefficient of -1.18). These results show that although technology offers convenience, other factors such as the alignment of media and methods with students’ characteristics and their familiarity with technology in learning are very important. The study recommends strengthening training programs for students and implementing more adaptive and diverse learning variations to enhance teaching effectiveness. Furthermore, further research with a larger and more diverse sample is suggested to strengthen these findings and to explore other factors influencing students’ academic achievement.
