Abstract

Kulit secara alami rentan mengalami penuaan dini akibat radikal bebas dari paparan sinar matahari, polusi, dan proses oksidasi berlebih. Penggunaan sediaan kosmetik topikal berbahan alami dengan kandungan antioksidan dapat membantu menangkal efek negatif tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol 96% daun mangrove (Rhizophora stylosa Griff.) serta menentukan formulasi optimal masker gel peel-off yang mengandung ekstrak tersebut. Ekstrak diperoleh melalui metode maserasi dan diuji aktivitas antioksidannya menggunakan metode DPPH, dengan asam askorbat sebagai pembanding. Hasil uji menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 96% daun mangrove memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang kuat dengan nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 76.29 µg/mL, sementara asam askorbat sebagai pembanding menunjukkan IC₅₀ sebesar 10.36 µg/mL. Sediaan gel peel-off diformulasikan dengan konsentrasi ekstrak sebesar 1%, 3%, dan 5%. Evaluasi mutu fisik dilakukan melalui uji organoleptik, pH, stabilitas, daya sebar, waktu kering, dan daya lekat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga formulasi sediaan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan, dengan nilai IC50 secara berturut turut yaitu 142.88 µg/mL; 111.99 µg/mL; 78.13 µg/mL. Konsentrasi 5% menunjukkan stabilitas dan aktivitas paling baik. Formulasi ini menunjukkan potensi pemanfaatan daun mangrove sebagai sumber antioksidan alami dalam kosmetik./The skin is naturally prone to premature aging due to free radicals from sun exposure, pollution, and excessive oxidation processes. The use of topical cosmetic preparations made from natural ingredients with antioxidant content can help counteract these negative effects. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of 96% ethanol extract of mangrove leaves (Rhizophora stylosa Griff.) and determine the optimal formulation of peel-off gel masks containing these extracts. The extract was obtained through the maceration method and tested for antioxidant activity using the DPPH method, with ascorbic acid as a comparator. The test results showed that 96% ethanol extract of mangrove leaves had strong antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 76.29 μg/mL, while ascorbic acid as a comparison showed an IC₅₀ of 10.36 μg/mL. Peel-off gel preparations are formulated with extracts concentrations of 1%, 3%, and 5%. Physical quality evaluation was carried out through organoleptic tests, pH, stability, dispersibility, dry time, and adhesion. The results showed that the three formulations of the preparation had antioxidant activity, with IC50 values successively of 142.88 μg/mL; 111.99 μg/mL; 78.13 μg/mL. A concentration of 5% indicates stability and activity at best. This formulation shows the potential of using mangrove leaves as a natural source of antioxidants in cosmetics.
