Abstract
Ketombe adalah kondisi kulit kepala terjadi pengelupasan sel-sel kulit mati berlebihan. Salah satu bakteri yang sering ditemukan pada kulit kepala berketombe adalah Staphylococcus aureus dan dapat diatasi dengan memanfaatkan senyawa antibakteri dari umbi bawang putih. Formulasi sampo dengan ekstrak bawang putih sebagai antibakteri menjadi pilihan alternatif mengingat penggunaan Zinc Pyrithione (ZnPT) yang berlebihan dalam sampo menyebabkan efek samping, seperti dermatitis pada kulit kepala serta kerusakan pada rambut, termasuk kerontokan, perubahan warna, dan patah-patah. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan formulasi sampo antibakteri ekstrak umbi bawang putih dan menganalisis aktivitasnya terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Ekstrak etanol 70% umbi bawang putih mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder alkaloid, fenol, flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin. Sediaan sampo ekstrak bawang putih F1 (6%); F2 (8%); F3 (10%) dengan diameter masing masing 19,80 mm; 23,65 mm; 25,73 mm. Data hasil yang diperoleh dianalis menggunakan One Way ANOVA rentang kepercayaan 95%. Hasil analisis menunjukkan setiap formulasi memiliki aktivitas yang berbeda secara statistik dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Formulasi sampo ekstrak bawang putih menunjukkan stabilitas yang baik setelah uji cycling test selama 6 siklus dan memenuhi kriteria SNI dalam pengujian organoleptik, pH, tinggi busa, viskositas, dan homogenitas. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan pengembangan produk sampo antibakteri alternatif dalam mencegah pertumbuhan bakteri./ Dandruff is a scalp condition marked by excessive shedding of dead skin cells. One of the bacteria frequently associated with dandruff is Staphylococcus aureus, which contributes to its severity. This study explores the use of antibacterial compounds from garlic bulbs as a natural alternative to combat this issue. Garlic contains secondary metabolites, including alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, known for their antibacterial properties. Excessive use of Zinc Pyrithione (ZnPT), a common synthetic agent in anti-dandruff shampoos, may cause adverse effects such as scalp dermatitis, hair loss, discoloration, and breakage. As a safer alternative, an antibacterial shampoo was formulated using a 70% ethanol garlic bulb extract. Three formulations were developed: F1 (6%), F2 (8%), and F3 (10%), with inhibition zone diameters of 19.80 mm, 23.65 mm, and 25.73 mm, respectively. Data analysis using One Way ANOVA at a 95% confidence level revealed statistically significant differences among the formulations in inhibiting S. aureus. The shampoos also showed good physical stability after six-cycle cycling tests and complied with SNI standards regarding organoleptic properties, pH, foam height, viscosity, and homogeneity. These findings support garlic extract’s potential as a natural antibacterial agent in dandruff treatment.
