Abstract
Bibir merupakan bagian tubuh yang sensitif karena tidak memiliki perlindungan
alami terhadap sinar ultraviolet (UV), sehingga rentan mengalami kerusakan seperti
pecah-pecah dan hiperpigmentasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai
Sun Protection Factor (SPF) ekstrak etanol 96% umbi bit merah (Beta vulgaris L.)
serta mengevaluasi mutu fisik dan proteksi UV dari sediaan lip gloss yang
diformulasikan dengan ekstrak tersebut. Ekstrak diperoleh melalui metode
maserasi, dan skrining fitokimia menunjukkan adanya senyawa aktif seperti
flavonoid, fenol, tanin, saponin, dan triterpenoid yang berperan dalam aktivitas
tabir surya. Nilai SPF ekstrak meningkat seiring kenaikan konsentrasi: 6,73 (1000
ppm), 12,03 (2500 ppm), 21,94 (5000 ppm), 31,90 (7500 ppm), dan 36,76 (10.000
ppm). Dari tiga basis lip gloss yang dioptimasi, hanya basis B3 memenuhi syarat
mutu fisik, sehingga digunakan dalam formulasi F1 (0,75%), F2 (1%), F3 (2,5%),
dan F4 (5%). F1 dieliminasi karena tidak memenuhi syarat uji daya sebar,
sedangkan F2, F3, dan F4 memenuhi syarat uji daya sebar serta masing-masing
memiliki nilai SPF 24,73; 27,89; dan 35,20. Berdasarkan mutu fisik dan nilai SPF
tertinggi, F4 ditetapkan sebagai formula terbaik. Uji stabilitas dengan cycling test
selama enam siklus menunjukkan penurunan nilai SPF yang bermakna secara
statistik pada F4, dari 34,70±0,099 menjadi 33,87±0,046 (p < 0,05)./Lips are a sensitive part of the body because they do not have natural protection
against ultraviolet (UV) rays, so they are prone to damage such as chapping and
hyperpigmentation. This study aims to determine the Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
value of 96% ethanol extract of red beet tuber (Beta vulgaris L.) and evaluate the
physical quality and UV protection of lip gloss preparations formulated with the
extract. The extract was obtained through maceration method, and phytochemical
screening showed the presence of active compounds such as flavonoids, phenols,
tannins, saponins, and triterpenoids that play a role in sunscreen activity. The SPF
value of the extract increased as the concentration increased: 6.73 (1000 ppm),
12.03 (2500 ppm), 21.94 (5000 ppm), 31.90 (7500 ppm), and 36.76 (10,000 ppm).
Of the three lip gloss bases optimized, only base B3 met the physical quality
requirements, so it was used in formulations F1 (0.75%), F2 (1%), F3 (2.5%), and
F4 (5%). F1 was eliminated because it did not meet the requirements of the
spreadability test, while F2, F3, and F4 met the requirements of the spreadability
test and had SPF values of 24.73; 27.89; and 35.20, respectively. Based on the
physical quality and the highest SPF value, F4 was determined as the best formula.
Stability test with cycling test for six cycles showed a statistically significant
decrease in SPF value in F4, from 34.70±0.099 to 33.87±0.046 (p < 0.05).
