Abstract

Formulasi terbaik yaitu F3 dengan kategori daya hambat kuat dan memenuhi uji mutu fisik dan stabilitas./One of the skin problems experienced by teenagers is acne. Staphylococcus epidermidis is the bacteria that causes acne. The use of antibiotics as acne treatment can lead to resistance, and retinoids can cause skin irritation. Treatment derived from natural ingredients can be an alternative in acne management. The bangun-bangun leaves contain secondary metabolites that are beneficial as antibacterial agents. An effective treatment for acne is the use of a clay mask because it can reduce excess oil and remove dirt from the facial skin. This study aims to determine whether the formulation of a clay mask with 70% ethanol extract of bangun-bangun leaves has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus epidermidis and meets the physical quality and stability requirements. This study uses the maceration method in the extraction process and the well diffusion method in the antibacterial activity test. Evaluation was conducted on 3 formulations of clay mask preparations, including organoleptic tests, pH, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, drying time, and stability. The results of the inhibition zone diameter of the bangun-bangun leaf extract at concentrations of 150,000 ppm, 50,000 ppm, and 10,000 ppm were 18 mm, 15.65 mm, and 13.03 mm, respectively, categorized as strong. The results of the inhibition zone diameter of the clay mask preparation at concentrations of 1%, 5%, and 15% were 11.68 mm, 13.55 mm, and 15.02 mm, respectively, also categorized as strong. The best formulation is F3, which has a strong inhibition category and meets the physical quality and stability tests.
