Abstract

Dalam sebuah perusahaan dibutuhkan seseorang untuk menjadi jembatan penghubung antara pihak luar dengan perusahaan. Seorang Public Relations merupakan orang yang tepat untuk proses komunikasi dengan publik. Praktisi Public Relations Electronic City menjalankan salah satu perannya sebagai fasilitator komunikasi (Cutlip et al, 2009) dengan mengadakan kegiatan media relations. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk membangun relasi positif dengan salah satu publik eksternal Electronic City, yaitu media massa. Pembahasan dimulai dengan laporan kegiatan magang dan dilanjutkan dengan analisa terhadap divisi Public Relations, peran Public Relations sebagai fasilitator komunikasi, dan kegiatan media relations yang diselenggarakan oleh PT Electronic City Indonesia Tbk,. Berdasarkan kegiatan media relations tersebut, bisa disimpulkan bahwa Public Relations Electronic City telah berhasil menjalankan perannya sebagai fasilitator komunikasi. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan relasi positif yang berhasil dibangun, yaitu mendapatkan 22 publikasi dari kegiatan tersebut dan juga sudah diterapkannya beberapa prinsip umum untuk membina hubungan pers yang baik (Jefkins, 2003). Selain itu ada beberapa poin yang dapat dilakukan oleh Electronic City untuk meningkatkan kegiatan sebelumnya, yaitu mengadakan kegiatan media relations yang lebih kreatif dan menarik serta dapat memanfaatkan media sosial Electronic City secara maksimal untuk berkomunikasi dengan publik. / In an organization someone needs to be a bridge between public and the company. A Public Relations is the right person for the communication process with the public. Electronic City Public Relations practitioners carry out one of their roles as facilitators of communication (Cutlip et al, 2009) by holding media relations activities. This activity aims to build a positive relationship with one of Electronic City's external public, which is the mass media. This final assignment begin with the report for internship program and proceed to analyze the Public Relations division, the role of Public Relations as a communication facilitator, and media relations activities in PT Electronic City Indonesia Tbk,. Based on these media relations activities, it can be concluded that Electronic City Public Relations has successfully carried out its role as a communication facilitator. This is shown by the positive relations that have been successfully built, by getting 22 publications from these activities and also Electronic City has applied several general principles to build a good relations with pers (Jefkins, 2003). In addition there are several points that Electronic City can do to improve its previous activities, that is by holding media relations activities that are more creative and interesting and can utilize Electronic City’s social media to its full potential to communicate with the public.
