Abstract

Sebagai mahasiswa perantau tahun pertama, penyesuaian diri dengan lingkungan baru merupakan hal penting. Hal ini tidak hanya berkaitan dengan adanya sistem pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi yang berbeda dengan di SMA, melainkan mahasiswa perantau harus menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan tempat perantauan. Jika dalam proses penyesuaian diri dengan berbagai perubahan yang ada membuat mereka tidak mampu dalam menyesuaikan diri dengan perguruan tinggi dan lingkungan perantauannya maka mereka akan mengalami hal-hal yang negatif seperti stres. Self disclosure dianggap dapat memengaruhi tingkat stres mahasiswa, karena melalui self disclosure , stres yang menimbulkan perasaan negatif akan berkurang dan perasaan lega akan muncul setelah dilampiaskan dan diekspresikan bersama orang lain. Oleh karena itu, penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh self disclosure terhadap tingkat stres mahasiswa perantau tahun pertama pada Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas X. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode kuantitatif, dan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang dilakukan pada 105 mahasiswa perantau tahun pertama. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah RSDS (α=.88) dan skala tingkat stres yang disusun peneliti (α=.88). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan sebanyak 5.9% antara self disclosure terhadap tingkat stres (R2 = .05, p < .05). Artinya, semakin tinggi self disclosure mahasiswa maka semakin rendah pula tingkat stres mahasiswa tersebut. / As a first year overseas student, adjusting to a new environment is important. It is not only related to the different of learning system between University and High school, but overseas students must adjust to the environment in which they migrate. If in the process of adjusting to various changes that make them unable to adjust with their college and environment, they will experience negative things such as stress. Self disclosure is considered to be able to influence the stress level of students, because through self disclosure, stress that causes negative feelings will be reduced and feelings of relief will emerge after expressed with others. Therefore, the research was conducted with the aim of finding out the effect of self disclosure on the stress levels of first year overseas student of Faculty Teachers College of University X. This research uses quantitive methods, and using purposive sampling techniques conducting on 105 first year overseas students. The measuring instrument used was RSDS (α=.88) and the stress level scale constructed by the researcher (α=.88). The results showed a significant effect of 5.9% between self disclosure on stress levels (R2 = .05, p < .05). meaning, the higher the self disclosure of the first year overseas students, the lower the stress level of the first year overseas students.
