Ilustrasi biasa digunakan untuk ilmiah, teks-teks sejarah, agama, dan juga digunakan untuk karya sastra, seperti novel. Penggunaan ilustrasi pada novel berilustrasi biasanya digunakan untuk menunjang isi cerita, namun tidak secara langsung menggambarkan teks dari isi cerita. Ilustrasi pada media novel sebagai aplikasinya tidak dibatasi oleh umur, dapat diaplikasikan baik untuk anak-anak maupun untuk dewasa. Untuk membuat ilustrasi dari cerita novel, diperlukan beberapa metode untuk mempermudah proses pembuatan ilustrasi tersebut. Seperti menganalisa data serta memilih setiap bab novel yang tepat untuk memperlihatkan inti isi cerita yang akan dibentuk dalam ilustrasi sehingga sesuai dengan suasana yang yang diciptakan dari isi cerita novel tersebut. Melalui ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual yang ada akan dibuat beberapa ilustrasi mengenai cerita yang ada pada novel sehingga dapat berfungsi dalam memperlihatkan karakter, cerita maupun situasi dari novel tersebut. / Illustration is usually used for scientific, historical, religious texts, and also used for literary works, such as novels. The use of illustrations in illustrated novels is usually used to support the content of the story, bus does not directly describe the text of the story content. Illustration on novel media as its application is not limited by age, can be applied both for children and for adults. To make illustrations from novel stories, several methods are needed to simplify the process of making these illustrations. Such as analyzing data and selecting each chapter of the novel to show the core content of the story that will be formed in the illustration so that it matches the atsmosphere created from the contents of the novel’s story. Through the science of visual communication design there will be made several illustrations of the storied in the novel so that it can function in showing the characters, stories, and situations of the novel.
