Abstract
Musik jazz dan klasik memiliki karakteristik yang berbeda, terutama di bagian notasinya. Musik jazz menggunakan real book, sedangkan musik klasik menggunakan notasi klasik. Musik jazz banyak diaransemen oleh para musisi. Bentuk aransemen yang dihasilkan pun berbeda-beda. Salah satu bentuk aransemen yang unik adalah “A Night in Tunisia” karangan Dizzy Gillespie oleh Roland Dyens, yang merupakan seorang gitaris klasik. Roland Dyens mengaransemen lagu yang awalnya memiliki format jazz ansambel ke dalam format gitar tunggal. Selain banyak memakai teknik permainan gitar yang baru (extended technique), Roland Dyens juga menuliskan deskripsi notasi dan gaya permainan secara terperinci. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti akan menganalisis bentuk aransemen Roland Dyens dalam lagu “A Night in Tunisia”, terutama dari segi form, teknik, harmoni, melodi, dan tekstur.
