South Korea is one of the countries in the East Asia region to carve a history by starting as a poor country which is then able to evolve into an advanced industrial countries and won the fourth stage as the State with the largest economy in Asia. However, the feud with North Korea through the Korea Peninsula issue was not looked likely to get results as well still be an obstacle for the country. To that end, needs analysis to the development of its industrialisation accompanied by external threats that occurred in South Korea toward foreign policy that was created and run by the head of State of South Korea at this time, President Lee Myung Bak. This research uses a theory based on a liberalism perspective and theory of neo liberal institutionalism including the concept of economic development, industrialization, and foreign policy as a framework of thinking. Data collection is carried out according to the secondary and primary. The secondary Data were obtained from study documents and statistical data obtained from a variety of relevant sources whereas primary data obtained from in-depth interviews with the interested parties know about policies in South Korea. From the results of research question have found foreign policy during the administration of President Lee Myung Bak (period 2009-2012) can be understood in the context of South Korea as the industrialized country with an interest to expand international trade and securing energy supply, as well as in foreign politics of South Korea also cooperate with major countries in the settlement of problems on the peninsula of Korea.
