Abstract

Mahasiswa berada dalam tahap menjalani pendidikan di perguruan tinggi dan seringkali dalam proses perkuliahan akan mengalami tuntutan akademik. Adanya tuntutan akademik mendorong mahasiswa mengalami yang namanya stres. Biasanya stres yang terjadi pada mahasiswa disebut stres akademik. Studi sebelumnya menemukan stres akademik berhubungan dengan sejumlah kondisi kesehatan yang memengaruhi kesehatan fisik juga kesehatan mental. Sehingga kecenderungan mahasiswa akan memberikan respon yang positif maupun negatif. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa membutuhkan kelekatan dengan teman sebaya dan coping stress dalam mengatasi stres akademik. Studi ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah kelekatan dengan teman sebaya memiliki korelasi dengan coping stres kepada 150 mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan. Penelitian dilakukan secara kuantitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen penelitian yaitu Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment dan Ways of Coping Questionnaire. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa adanya hubungan signifikan antara variabel peer attachment dan problem focused coping rs=.523, p=.000 (p<.05) serta emotion focused coping rs=.376, p=.000 (p<.05). Artinya semakin tinggi kelekatan dengan teman sebaya maka akan semakin tinggi coping stress individu dalam mengatasi tekanan yang stressful./ College student are in the phase of doing the academic process in the college and offtentime the student will get academic’s demand. This demand will make the students experience a stress. Usually the stress that hapens to the college students is called as academic stress. The previous study found that academic stress is related to some health conditions that affect both mental and physical health. As the result, the student will give positive or negative respond. Because of that, the student need a close relation with a peer to prevent this academic stress. The purpose of this study is to see whether the close relationship with peer attachment has a correlation with coping stress to 150 student Faculty of Science Education. This study is done quatitatively with Inventory Peer and Parent Atatchment and Coping Stress as the instrument. As the result, this study find that there is a significan relation between peer attachment and problem focused coping rs=.523, p=.000 (p<.05) and emotion focused coping rs=.376, p=.000 (p<.05). It means, the higher the attachment to peers, the higher coping stress that the student will get ini preventing the pressure.
