Background: In Indonesia hypertension is a serious problem, because of the high prevalence. Smoking is the primary risk factor for cardiovascular mobility and mortality. The data from Binong public health center revealed that hypertension is the top three of ten diseases in terms of number patients. Objective: This research was conducted to find correlation between smoking behavior and classification of hypertension in Binong Health Center, Curug district in Tangerang regency. Method: The Research is a quantitative study with descriptive correlational method. The questionaire was tested for validity and reliability with Cronbach’s Alpha 0.783. The data was collected from 43 male respondens who are above 35 years old with smoking behavior. The data was analyze using bivariate and univariate test, with computerize Chi- Square test. Result: The result shows there is significant correlation between the number of cigarette smoke and classification of hypertension with p value = 0.004. There is correlation between smoking frequency of classification hypertension with p value = 0.039. However there is no correlation between type of cigarette, duration of smoking, technique of smoking with classification hypertension. Sugestion: It is hoped the result of the research can be used as reference for further studies in the future and for the medical professional to give health education to smokers.
