Abstract

Halma is a two-player or four-player game in which the players take turns moving their pieces from one’s own camp into the camp in opposing corner. The objective of the game is to be the first player to race all one’s pieces into the opposing camp which located diagonally opposite one’s own. In this Halma game, there is a board sized 8x8, and pieces with two colors, black and white. Pieces in this game can move to any direction. In this final project, an artificial intelligence is given into the game to enable computer’s interaction with the player. Artificial intelligence given in this game is made by using Heuristic method, where the type of heuristic used is the Best First Search, where rules are made so that the computer has becomes more intelligent by adding rules. To measure the intelligence of the AI in the game, testing was performed involving ten players, where everyone was given three chances. The level of intelligence given in this Halma game was made by using Heuristic method, giving a winning percentage of 70.3% to the favor of the AI. In the future, other methods can be applied, such as minimax algorithm.
