Abstract

Background : Classification of mammary carcinoma’s molecular subtype is a method to determine the prognosis and treatment of a breast cancer. Other method that can be done to determine prognosis is by determining the pathological TNM staging. The researcher wants to find if there is a correlation between the molecular subtype and the pathological TNM stage of the invasive primary mammary carcinoma. This study has never been done in Indonesia so this research’s result may be able to help to provide information on determining the prognosis and treatment of primary mammary carcinoma patients on Indonesian woman. Aim : Finding a correlation between a primary mammary carcinoma’s molecular subtype and it’s pathological TNM stadium. Material & Method: The study was conducted with unpaired comparative analysis with the cross sectional method. The amount of the sample was determinded by unpaired comparative analysis design. Researchers took the pathological TNM staging and molecular subtype value as primary data. Collected data were analyzed statistically using chi square with p<0.05 considered as statistically insignificant.Result : Based on the research conducted, it is found that within the sample group, the good prognosis molecular subtype group : luminal A and luminal B HER-2 negative carcinoma consists of 62.5% carcinoma with TNM stage of 1 – 2 and 37.5% of the carcinoma is in the 3 – 4 TNM stage. The bad prognosis molecular subtype group : luminal B HER-2 positive, HER-2, and triple negative molecular subtype consists of 53.8% carcinoma with TNM stage of 1 – 2, and the other 46.2% is in the 3 – 4 TNM stage. (p=0.726). Conclusion : carcinoma with luminal B HER-2 positive, HER-2, and triple negative molecular subtype have higher risk of developing into carcinoma with TNM stage of 3 -4 compared to carcinoma with luminal A, luminal B HER-2 negative molecular subtype.
