A vast development of technology gives rise to numerous amount of Copyright violations, although there are good side and bad side regardging those developments. There are a lot of methods and regulations regarding the protection of any copyrights. But those regulations seems not enough to handle the violations these days. In this case, for the photography copyright protection, which has been regulated and applied but still ineffective to reduce the violations. Several changes to the Copyright Law has been made, however it does not seem to give any deterrent effect to the perpetrators of photography with unauthorized permission of use in the social media, which causes prejudicial effects to the Copyright holders of the said creation. This research questions how the legal protection provided by Law Number 28 Year 2014 regarding copyright is, in terms of the act of unauthorized use of photography and the means conducted by the government to overcome the violations in order to uphold the law in regard to Copyright violations. The type of research used within this research is a normative-empirical research by studying Law Number 28 Year 2014 regarding Copyright and the actual problems that happened to be the references to compare the effect of the regulations, with sources of data obtained from primary sources of research namely Copyright Law 2014; secondary source of data in the form of books, journals, data and doctrines; while the tertiary source of research is in the form of a dictionary which contains the understanding regarding a word which is then analyzed qualitatively.
