Abstract

International trade is unquestionably crucial for every country, especially developing countries. In order to engage more in international trade, Indonesia joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). There are currently 164 members joining the WTO in hope that their trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible. However, many of times members caught themselves in disputes due to protectionism or other reasons. One of the current disputes involving Indonesia is Indonesia-Chicken with Brazil as the complainant and Indonesia as the respondent. Brazil requested for panel establishment due to measures applied by Indonesia regarding chicken meat and chicken products importation. The panel found Indonesia to be guilty and it had to comply with panel’s recommendations and rulings within the agreed reasonable period of time. The measures that Indonesia has to comply to are positive list requirement, fixed license terms, intended use, and undue delay. When this period lapsed, Brazil felt that Indonesia has not complied and it made them request for compliance panel. In this internship report, the measures would be analyzed thoroughly whether Indonesia has or has not complied with the panel’s recommendations and rulings.
