Abstract

SMPN 17 is the school with the lowest UN score among state junior high schools in Bogor. 70% of students come from economically disadvantaged families. Many graduates continue to private vocational schools or Islamic boarding schools. But the teachers are satisfied teaching at this school and do not want to move. They look happy despite the distant location of the school and the heavy teaching burden. The phenomenological approach in this study was used to explore what experiences and how satisfied teachers worked at this school. Researchers developed interview and observation techniques to get the phenomenon of teacher satisfaction in this school. The purpose of this study is to uncover the experience of how job satisfaction, turnover intention and management of moods and emotions of teachers. Interviews were conducted with 15 main respondents and 2 supporting respondents. The validity and reliability of research using member checking, triangulation of methods, sources, theory. This study revealed three phenomena of teacher satisfaction in Junior High School 17 Kota Bogor, namely the phenomenon of friends, altruism and enjoying. The essence of the phenomenon obtained are worship, merit and reward summarized in a sense of religiosity. / SMPN 17 merupakan sekolah berperingkat nilai UN terendah di antara SMP Negeri di Kota Bogor. 70% siswa berasal dari keluarga ekonomi tidak mampu. Lulusannya banyak melanjutkan ke SMK swasta atau pesantren. Namun para guru puas mengajar di sekolah ini serta tidak ingin pindah. Mereka terlihat bahagia walaupun lokasi sekolah yang jauh dan beban mengajar yang berat. Pendekatan fenomenologi pada penelitian ini digunakan untuk mengeksplor pengalaman apa dan bagaimana guru-guru puas bekerja di sekolah ini. Peneliti mengembangkan teknik wawancara dan observasi untuk mendapatkan fenomena kepuasan guru di sekolah ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap pengalaman bagaimana job satisfaction, turnover intention dan pengelolaan mood dan emosi para guru. Wawancara dilakukan kepada 15 responden utama dan 2 orang responden pendukung. Validitas dan reliabilitas penelitian menggunakan member checking, triangulasi metode, sumber, teori. Penelitian ini mengungkap tiga fenomena kepuasan guru di SMP Negeri 17 Kota Bogor yaitu fenomena teman, altruism dan menikmati. Esensi fenomena yang didapat adalah ibadah, bermanfaat dan berpahala yang terangkum dalam rasa religiusitas.
