Abstract

The value of Indonesian textile exports increases every year. the number of factories continues to increase but has the potential to increase. Yellow bur-head (Limnocharis flava) is an aquatic plant that makes it easy to remove textile dyes. Azo dyes have been used in dyeing textiles made from wool, cotton, viscose, silk and synthetic fibers. Azo dyes are famous for being easy to use, inexpensive and produce intense colors. Yellow bur-head is considered as an invasive plant that needs to be prevented from growing and has limited use. Therefore, this study will discuss the potential of Yellow bur-head as a decorating agent and determine the rate of adsorption. The Yellow bur-head was oven dried at 70ºC for 24 hours. Then one gram of biomass obtained was mixed into a 0.05% dye solution of 100 ml. Decolorization results meeting with a spectrophotometer. The biomass from the stems of Yellow bur-head has a stronger adsorption power than the biomass of the leaves at the highest speed after 3 hours of processing.
