Copyright is regulated in the Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright, cinematographic works is one of the objects protected by the copyright law. This study aims to find out the regulation about plagiarism based on Law No. 28 of 2014 and the legal effort for legal action that can be taken by the aggrieved parties. Researcher is using normative legal research that uses library materials to analyze the case. The type of research data is using secondary data consisting of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. The act of plagiarism on cinematographic works is an infringement of copyright. In Indonesia there are some cinematographic works that do plagiarism to the work of home production abroad. Copyright on cinematographic works is an exclusive right owned by a production house to carry out the transformation, arrangement, or duplication as mentioned in Article 8 of the Copyright Law. Without the permission of the copyright holder the other person can not do such things for commercial purposes unless its for educational or research purposes people are allowed to take substantial out of a work as long as its source was given. A person who commits plagiarism may be subject to Article 113 paragraph (2) of Law No. 28 of 2014 on Copyright with a 3-year criminal penalty and a maximum fine of 500 million. Also, a lawsuit for compensation and a temporary appointment of the court may be issued after the collection of strong evidence to prevent or stop a larger loss.
