Abstract

Manusia sebagai mahluk sosialtentunta tidak dapat lepas dari hubungan antara satu sama lainnya. Meningkatkan kebutuhan manusia zaman sekarang untuk melakukan interaksi dengan siapa saja dan kapan saja. Oleh karna itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan fungsi ruang publik sebagai wadah yang menampung aktivitas dan sebagai sarana media komunikasi antara masyarakat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara. Observasi dilakukan pada hari dan jam yang berbeda untuk melihat aktivitas, kebutuhan dan interaksi pengunjung di Kota Tua. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan ini didapatkan bahwa permasalahan utama pada fungsi Kota Tua sebagai ruang publik kurang maksimal, karna pengunjung yang datang tidak dapat saling berinteraksi satu sama lain. Sehingga diperlukannya perancangan ulang dengan memberikan kemungkinan-kemungkinan terjadinya interaksi antar pengunjung. / Humans as social beings certainly can not be separated from the relationship between one another. Increased human needs today to interact with anyone and at any time. Therefore, this study aims to maximize the function of public space as a container that can accommodate activities and as a medium of communication between the people. Data collection is done by conducting observations and interviews. Observations were made on different days and hours to see the activities, needs and interactions of visitors in the Old City. Based on the results of these observations it was found that the main problems in the function of Kota Tua as public spaces were less than optimal, because visitors who came could not interact with each other. So that it is necessary to redesign by providing possibilities for interaction between visitors.
