Abstract

Biogrouting dapat dimanfaatkan untuk perbaikan tanah gambut. Penelitian ini menggunakan bakteri Bacillus subtilis, yang hanya dapat tumbuh pada pH 7- 8. Sementara, pH tanah gambut dalam penelitian ini adalah 4,47 sehingga pH tanah gambut perlu ditingkatkan dengan memberikan bahan stabilisasi yang mengandung kalsium dan silika. Selain meningkatkan pH, kalsium dan silika dapat meningkatkan daya dukung tanah gambut. Penelitian ini menggunakan abu sekam padi dan fly ash sebagai sumber silika; sementara tepung cangkang kerang simping, cangkang telur, dan abu marmer sebagai sumber kalsium. Untuk melihat efek dari bahan stabilisasi terhadap daya dukung tanah, maka dilakukan pengujian kuat tekan bebas setelah masa pemeraman 30, 60 dan 90 hari. Pada masa pemeraman 30 hari variasi penambahan abu sekam padi dan tepung cangkang kerang simping memberikan peningkatan daya dukung sebesar 78,59%; variasi penambahan fly ash dengan cangkang telur memberikan peningkatan daya dukung sebesar 74,76%; dan variasi fly ash dengan abu marmer memberikan peningkatan daya dukung sebesar 22,58%. Karena, penambahan abu sekam padi dengan tepung cangkang kerang simping meningkatkan daya dukung tanah paling bagus maka digunakan sebagai dasar untuk penyuntikan bakteri. Pada masa pemeraman selama 60 hari, daya dukung tanah gambut yang ditambahkan abu sekam padi dengan tepung cangkang kerang simping tanpa disuntikkan bakteri dapat mencapai 151,367%, sedangkan yg telah disuntik dengan bakteri dapat mencapai 255,196%. Pada masa pemeraman 90 hari, daya dukung tanah gambut yang ditambahkan abu sekam padi dengan tepung cangkang kerang simping yang tidak disuntik bakteri dapat mencapai 154,272%, sedangkan untuk yang disuntik dengan bakteri dapat mencapai 335,905%. Maka, bakteri dapat meningkatkan daya dukung tanah. / Bio grouting is a technique that can be used to enhance the properties of peat soil, one of them is by means of bacteria. Bacillus subtillis, which survives and grows only at the environment with a pH level of 7 to 8, is utilized in this research. However, the acidity of the peat soil itself (pH = 4.7) inhibits the functionality of the bacteria, hence another solution must be added to lower the acidity level. This can be done by incorporating a stabilizing solution containing calcium and silica. The sources of the calcium in this project are seashells flour, eggshells flour and marble ash, whereas rice husk ash and fly ash are employed as the main components of silica. Unconfined compression tests are executed during the period of 30, 60, and 90 days in the incubation to achieve a good understanding regarding the influence of the soil stabilizing agents to the supporting capacity of the peat. Firstly, the addition of rice husk ash and seashells flour increase the support capacity by 78,59% after 30 days; the mixture of fly ash and eggshells increase the support capacity by 74,76%; fly ash and marble ash increase the support capacity 22,58%. The combination of rice husk ash and seashells flour gives the best effect, therefore can be further employed for the bacteria injection. The experiment conducted after 60 days by incorporating the mixture of rice husk ash and seashells flour without the bacteria increases the support capacity of peat soil to 151,367%, whereas the one with bacteria injection could upgrade to 255,196%. Finally, the test run after 90 days can describe the impact of the mixture of rice husk ash and seashells flour without and with bacteria injection to the capacity of peat soil, up to 154,272% and 335,905%, respectively. Conclusively, the injection of bacillus subtilis is beneficial to the peat regarding the support capacity.
