Abstract
Procrastination is not a new thing among university students, in fact this phenomenon is very common among them even though it is known with the negative impacts it brings. Recently, there is a new concept of procrastination that occured. It’s called active procrastination, which believed brings positive impacts. An active procrastinator intentionally put off the task to feel challenged, therefore he will be more effective on finishing his tasks, then resulting on desired outcome. Desired outcome closely related with which achievement goal orientation he used. Former study found that there is a significant negative correlation between active procrastination and mastery-approach goal orientation, and performance-approach goal orientation as well. This study aims to examine the relationship between active procrastination and achievement goal orientations among university students. The methods used is quantitative and the participants of this study consists of 251 university students which were asked to fill New Active Procrastination Scale and Achievement Goal Questionnaire Scale that has been translated to Bahasa. The results shows there is a significant negative correlation between active procrastination and performance-approach goal orientation among university student (rs=-.209, p < .05). It means, the higher tendency of active procrastination of individual, the lesser his tendency to use performance-approach goal orientation.
