Abstract
Kualitas hidup berhubungan dengan konsep subjective well-being. / Adolescence is a stage where physical changes occur due to puberty. It leads to difficulties of accepting their body shape or weight so they do actions to achieve their ideal look. Adolescences who are classified as normal in body mass index can also feel dissatisfied. Dissatisfaction on appearance can leads to negative body image and impact on their life quality. Life quality relates with the concept of subjective well-being. This study aims to research whether dimensions of body image correlates with subjective well-being on 100 adolescence women aged 15 until 19 domiciled in Jakarta. This quantitative research examines three dimensions of body image, which are appearance evaluation, appearance orientation and body areas satisfaction using three research instruments, Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale and Scale Positive and Negative Experience. The results show that there are a significant relationship between appearance evaluation and subjective well-being (rs=.259, p<.05), a significant relationship between body areas satisfaction and subjective well-being (rs=.379, p<.05). This means that the higher appearance evaluation and body areas satisfaction, the higher the subjective well-being, vice versa. In contrast, this study also examines no significant relationship between appearance orientation and subjective well-being
(rs=.004, p>.05). Other findings are discussed.
