Film merupakan salah satu media massa yang dapat merepresentasikan yang terjadi di sekitar kita atau realitas dunia nyata. Namun, representasi dalam film seringkali menggiring opini masyarakat dan membuat konstruksi stereotip akan suatu golongan tertentu. Seperti representasi Asia yang digambarkan dalam film-film Hollywood. Pada tahun 2018 Hollywood memunculkan film Crazy Rich Asian, dimana hampir semua pemerannya keturunan Asia. Topik ini menarik untuk diteliti, karena ditengah maraknya film-film yang merepresentasikan Asia secara negatif, Hollywood memunculkan film Crazy Rich Asians. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini untuk mengetahui representasi Asia dalam film Crazy Rich Asians. Apakah representasi Asia dalam film ini sama seperti yang direpresentasikan pada film-film Hollywood sebelumnya, atau muncul perbedaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Peneliti menggunakan adeganadegan yang merepresentasikan Asia dalam film Crazy Rich Asians sebagai unit analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat beberapa stereotip yang berubah dan stereotip yang sama mengenai karakter Asia yang direpresentasikan dalam film Crazy Rich Asians. / Film is one of the mass media that can represent what is happening around us or real-life reality. However, representation in films often leads to public opinion and makes stereotypical constructs towards a particular group. Like the Asian representation shown in Hollywood films. In 2018 Hollywood produced the Crazy Rich Asian movie, where almost all of the characters were of Asian actors and actresses. This topic is interesting for research, because in midst of the rise of films that represent Asia negatively, Hollywood produce the film Crazy Rich Asians. Therefore this research is to find out the Asian representation in the Crazy Rich Asians film. Are Asian representations in this film still the same as those represented in previous Hollywood films, or differences arise. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis method. Data collection is done by using documentation and literature studies. The researcher used scenes that represented Asia in the Crazy Rich Asians film as a unit of analysis. The results show that there are several changing stereotypes and similar stereotypes about Asian characters represented in the Crazy Rich Asians film
