Abstract

Tenaga medis yang meningkat disebabkan oleh meningkatnya lansia, hal ini menyebabkan kebutuhan menjamin kualitas keperawatan yang lebih dari sebelumnya. Salah satu penyakit yang umum menyerang lansia adalah demensia. Demensia pada saat ini tidak dapat diobati. Pasien demensia memerlukan perawatan khusus. Meningkatnya kebutuhan menyebabkan beban pekerjaan yang lebih tinggi. Beban pekerjaan yang dialami oleh perawat dapat mendorong perawat untuk mengalami gangguan, hingga menyebabkan penelantaran maupun penganiayaan terjadi. Menurut penulis pencegahan dini dapat membantu perawat untuk menghadapi pasien serta menjamin pasien mendapatkan kualitas keperawatan yang lebih baik. Kesadaran perawat terhadap dampak dari beban pekerjaan menjadi kunci utama untuk menciptakan interaksi yang lebih sehat antar perawat dan pasien. / Increase in medical personnel needs cause by the increase of elderly, this leads to a higher necessity to ensure the quality of care more than before. One of the most common illness for elderly is dementia. Dementia for now cannot be cured. Dementia patients need special care. Increase in demand cause increase in workload. Workload that caregiver need can push caregiver to experience disturbance, it can even lead caregiver to cause abandonment even abuse to happen. According to the author early prevention are able to help caregiver dealing with dementia patient it will also ensure patient a better quality of care. Awareness of caregiver towards workload impact is the main key to create a healthier interaction between caregiver and patient.
