Abstract

Business technology has revolutionized the way companies conduct business. Retail business not only focuses on selling the products to get the profit, but also has to pay attention the network infrastructure within the business entity. A good infrastructure also affects the running of the business, especially with a big business which has many branches, all of them must run smoothly and integrated with the Head Office. This report elaborates the process of network improvement at PT Matahari Department Store. This internship report focuses on the network improvement based on the topology design which changes the old design with the new one and the router, switch and other devices also be replaced using HPE brands. The improvements done from another factors that makes the network better will be explained in this report too. From the research results it can be proved that in old topology design there are factors underlying the replacement of existing network at PT Matahari Department Store. Also it can be proved that the new network at PT Matahari Department Store is better than the old network. / Meningkatnya perkembangan teknologi sangat berpengaruh bagi dunia usaha. Usaha ritel bukan hanya berfokus pada penjualan produk untuk mendapat keuntungan, tetapi juga memperhatikan infrastruktur jaringan komputer di dalam suatu badan usaha tersebut. Infrastruktur yang baik juga berpengaruh pada proses berjalannya suatu usaha, terlebih dengan badan usaha yang sudah besar dan memiliki banyak cabang, semua harus berjalan dengan lancar dan terintegrasi dengan kantor pusat. Dalam laporan ini dijelaskan mengenai proses peningkatan jaringan komputer di PT Matahari Department Store. Laporan magang ini berfokus pada peningkatan jaringan komputer toko PT Matahari Department Store mulai dari topologi hingga pada perangkat seperti router, switch dan sebagainya juga diganti dengan perangkat dari HPE. Peningkatan jaringan komputer dari segi yang lain guna membuat jaringan komputer menjadi lebih baik juga diuraikan pada laporan ini. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dibuktikan bahwa pada desain topologi lama terdapat faktor – faktor kebutuhan yang mendasari penggantian jaringan komputer yang terdapat di PT Matahari Department Store. Dapat dibuktikan juga bahwa jaringan komputer baru di PT Matahari Department Store menjadi lebih baik jika dibandingkan dengan jaringan komputer yang lama.
