Abstract

Penglihatan adalah salah satu dari 5 indra yang memiliki peran penting bagi seseorang untuk menjalankan aktivitas. Dengan kemampuan penglihatan yang baik dan bantuan cahaya kita dapat menangkap persepsi dan mengolahnya menjadi informasi visual. Ketika seseorang kehilangan kemampuan untuk melihat, orang tersebut dapat mengalami kesulitan dalam beraktivitas, sebab produk pendukung yang tersedia hanya dapat diakses dengan menggunakan penglihatan seperti mengetahui jam, menulis, membedakan nilai uang, mengukur, dan sebagainya. Sedangkan, setiap orang seharusnya memiliki hak untuk mengakses informasi secara bebas dan mandiri. Sama seperti setiap orang, waktu adalah salah satu informasi penting untuk mendukung kegiatan sehari-hari. Namun produk jam bagi tunanetra yang tersedia di pasaran masih memiliki beberapa masalah. Perancangan diawali dengan melakukan survey, observasi dan analisa akar permasalahan yang ada pada produk yang sudah ada. Data tersebut kemudian diuji berdasarkan beberapa prinsip desain sehingga menghasilkan ide yang paling ideal sebagai solusi. Hasil observasi dan Analisa menunjukkan bahwa produk penunjuk jam bagi tunanetra seharusnya memiliki interface yang familiar, sederhana, dan kontras sehingga pengguna lebih mudah untuk mengerti dan mengakses informasi dari produk ini. / Visions are one of 5 senses that have an important role to run an activity. With healthy eyesight, we can capture perception and process it into visual information. When a person loses their vision, the person might have difficulties in activity, because most of the products that support daily needs can only be accessed using vision, such as knowing time, writing, distinguishing the value of money, measuring, and so on. But, everyone should have the right to access information freely and independently. Just like everyone, time is one important information to support daily activities. But the watch products for the visually impaired available in the market still have some problems. The design process begins with conducting surveys, observations and analysis the root of the problems in the existing product. The data is then tested based on several design principles resulting in the most ideal idea as a solution. The observation and analysis results shows that the time telling device for the blind is supposed to be familiar, simple, and have a contrast interface to give easier method to understand and access information from this product.
