Abstract

Tidak sedikit bangunan bersejarah atau cagar budaya yang ditinggalkan, disamping karena fungsi bangunan yang sudah tidak dapat memenuhi kebutuhan sekitar, juga karena kondisi fisik bangunan yang tidak terjaga sehingga menjadi tidak layak pakai. Strategi adaptive reuse dapat menjadi solusi dalam menjaga dan menghidupkan kembali bangunan bersejarah yang memiliki desain khas dan asli dari suatu era tertentu, dan memberi fungsi baru sehingga bangunan tersebut dapat bertahan dan menyesuaikan diri dengan kebutuhan masa kini. Penelitian ini mengkaji pendekatan desain adaptive reuse dan penerapannya pada bangunan cagar budaya, serta bagaimana pendekatan ini dapat menghidupkan kembali area yang sudah ditinggalkan, sehingga menjadi area aktif yang dapat menawarkan tempat kegiatan bagi sekitarnya tanpa menghilangkan keasliannya. Melalui kajian teoritis tentang cagar budaya, konservasi dan pendekatan adaptive reuse, serta peraturan bangunan diperoleh sejumlah kriteria/tolak ukur yang kemudian digunakan dalam proses analisa dan perancangan. Pengumpulan data di lapangan juga dilakukan sebagai bagian dari proses pemahaman konteks lokasi dan kondisi eksisting dari studi kasus yang berlokasi di Kota Tua Jakarta. Penerapan strategi adaptive reuse pada studi kasus memperlihatkan bagaimana kriteria/tolak ukur yang sudah diperoleh berperan dalam menjaga proses perancangan dan kualitas hasil perancangan tersebut. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi adaptive reuse memiliki kelebihan dibandingkan strategi konservasi lainnya, dimana perbaikan kondisi fisik cagar budaya yang disertai penambahan ruang dan fungsi baru berpotensi menjadikan suatu cagar budaya lebih relevan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat sekitarnya pada masa kini./ There are a lot of unused and abandoned historical buildings due to the old structure which can no longer be use and hold the building itself. The other reason is that the old function of the building is no longer compatible to the needs of the community. This problem makes the cultural and historical value of the building begins to fade, also the original and unique characteristics of the building become forgotten. Adaptive reuse is the solution to this problem in order to make changes and conserve the building and give it a new function so they could survive throughout changes of time. This research, studies about adaptive reuse’s approach and its application to historical buildings, how this approach could renew an abandoned historical building so it could be an active area and a useful building that could offer the society a place for activity. And without eliminate its authenticity. Through some theoretical studies about historical buildings, there are criteria and benchmarks which is then used in process of analyzing and the design process. The on site data collection were also done as a part of the process in understanding the site’s context and the existing condition of the case study in Jakarta. The application of the adaptive reuse strategy in this case study shows how the criteria and benchmarks which have been collected play a role in maintaining the design process and the good quality of the new design. And it can be concluded that the adaptive reuse strategies have more advantages than the other conservation strategy where the changes of the physical condition of the building and accompanied by the addition of new mass and function could be a potential in making the historical building useful and impactful for the community around.
