Globalization has been shown through the development of communication technology, the latter has equipped mankind with the ability to communicate beyond the limitations of space and time; hence online media serves as a potential interpersonal bridge for mankind. The objective of this study was to observe romantic relation development through an online dating Tinder. The object of this study was a romantic relationship online dating Tinder and the subjects of this study are three couples that has meet in person and developed romantic relationship. This thesis was conducted using a phenomenological method with qualitative approach. The collection of data for this research was done through in-depth interviews and observations. This study is based on the theory of relationship development with the basis of social penetration theory. The result of this study showed that good communication and self-disclosure between couples in a relationship strengthens the intimate bond. The process to build a relationship requires a long period of time, longer than two months up to three months, although the latter was not linear correlated with the process of interpersonal relation development due to the possibilities of having positive or negative improvements in the relationship. The progress between stages was affected by individual self-disclosure and the ability to resolve conflict within the couple. / Globalisasi ditandai dengan perkembangan teknologi komunikasi yang mempermudah manusia untuk berkomunikasi tanpa batas ruang dan waktu sehingga media online dapat menjadi jembatan untuk membangun sebuah hubungan antarpribadi antar manusia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses pembentukan hubungan romantis melalui online dating Tinder. Objek Penelitian ini merupakan hubungan romantis online dating Tinder dan subjek penelitian ini adalah ketiga pasangan yang sudah memasuki tahap pertemuan secara tatap muka dan telah membentuk hubungan romantis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui in-depth interview dan observation. Penelitian ini didasari Relationship Development oleh Teori Penetrasi Sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi yang baik dan pengungkapan diri antar pasangan membawa hubungan menjadi semakin intim. Proses pendekatan dalam membentuk hubungan romantis memerlukan waktu lebih lama, dua bulan hingga tiga bulan namun pada tahapan proses perkembangan hubungan antarpribadi bersifat tidak linear karena kemungkinan terjadinya lompatan maupun kemunduran dalam hubungan. Pergerakan antartahap sangat dipengaruhi oleh keterbukaan setiap individu terhadap pasangannya dan juga kemampuan individu mengelola konflik.
