Abstract

PT Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo Medan is a company engaged in the sale of plastic bags. The phenomenon in the company is the decrease in employee’s job performance. One of the problems that caused the decrease in employee’s job performance is compensation. The employees are not satisfied with the compensation received. This research uses the theories about compensation and its effect on employees’ performance. The framework of this research is to find out the relationship between compensation and employees’ job performance. The methods used by the writer in this research is correlational research. Data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. This research uses simple linear regression, hypothesis test and coefficient determination to know the effect of compensation towards employee’s job performance. Based on research result, the simple linear regression showed equation of Y = 7.945 + 0.890 X. It means that variable compensation has a straight relationship to employees’ job performance. And reinforced by the result of the determination test which showed an effect of 42, 1% caused by compensation on job employee’s performance at PT. Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo Medan. The conclusion on this research is the hypothesis test showed that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, and it means that the compensation significantly effects the employee’s job performance at PT Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo. For next researcher, the research should add another variable that has relation to employees’ performance. The next researcher can possible conduct more investigation on other variables to know the most influential variable to employees’ performance. / PT Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo Medan adalah perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang penjualan kantong plastik. Fenomena di perusahaan adalah penurunan kinerja karyawan. Salah satu masalah yang menyebabkan penurunan kinerja karyawan adalah kompensasi. Karyawan tidak puas dengan kompensasi yang diterima. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori-teori tentang kompensasi dan pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kerangka kerja penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kompensasi dan kinerja karyawan. Metode yang digunakan oleh penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian korelasional. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Penelitian ini menggunakan regresi linier sederhana, uji hipotesis dan penentuan koefisien untuk mengetahui dampak kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, regresi linier sederhana menunjukkan persamaan Y = 7,945 + 0,890 X. Ini berarti bahwa kompensasi variabel memiliki hubungan langsung dengan kinerja pekerjaan karyawan. Dan dipertegas oleh hasil dari uji determinasi yang menunjukkan adanya efek sebanyak 42,1% yang di timbulkan oleh kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT. Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo Medan. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, dan itu berarti bahwa kompensasi secara signifikan mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan di PT Karya Mandiri Pratama Plasindo. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya, penelitian harus menambahkan variabel lain yang memiliki hubungan dengan kinerja karyawan. Peneliti selanjutnya dapat melakukan lebih banyak penyelidikan pada variabel lain untuk mengetahui variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan.
