Abstract

Supply chain management is a set of activities that include several process such as manufacturing until the distribution process. The fact that supply chain management could affect the competitive advantage in any company is true and it is in this research that this statement is proved in a company named PT Evergreen International Paper Medan. In this one of the types of international businesses, supply chain management is implemented in order to have a better management from the part where raw materials are supplied from the distributors until the finished goods are landed to the hands of customers. In this way, the company is allowed to have more and better competitive advantages compared to the rivals. The objectives of this research are to investigate if PT Evergreen International Paper Medan’s competitive advantage is indeed affected by the supply chain management. The research method that is used in this research is quantitative method and purposive sampling. From this research, it can be concluded that: 1) The competitive advantage of Evergreen is indeed influenced by the supply chain management. 2) Evergreen constantly manages the several parts of supply chain management by focusing more in generating personal programs for customer relationships, having more foreign distributors, updating more information for the employees about the insights of the company. 3) It is also crucial for Evergreen to pay attention on then price, product’s quality, and time consistency in marketing. Therefore, it is important for the business to continue retaining and improving the supply chain management in order to improve the quality of competitive advantage so the company can stay competitive. / Manajemen rantai pasokan adalah serangkaian kegiatan yang mencakup beberapa proses seperti manufaktur, produksi, dan distribusi. Fakta bahwa manajemen rantai pasokan dapat mempengaruhi keunggulan kompetitif di perusahaan mana pun adalah benar dan dalam penelitian ini pernyataan ini dibuktikan di perusahaan bernama PT Kertas Internasional Evergreen Medan. Dalam bisnis khusus ini, manajemen rantai pasokan diterapkan untuk memiliki manajemen yang lebih baik dari bagian di mana bahan baku dipasok dari distributor sampai barang jadi mendarat di tangan pelanggan. Dengan cara ini, perusahaan diizinkan untuk memiliki keunggulan kompetitif yang lebih banyak dan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan para pesaing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah PT Keunggulan kompetitif Evergreen International Paper Medan memang dipengaruhi oleh manajemen rantai pasokan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dan purposive sampling. Dari penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa: 1) Keunggulan kompetitif Evergreen memang dipengaruhi oleh manajemen rantai pasokan. 2) Evergreen terus-menerus mengelola beberapa bagian manajemen rantai pasokan dengan lebih berfokus pada menghasilkan program pribadi untuk hubungan pelanggan, memiliki lebih banyak distributor asing, memperbarui lebih banyak informasi bagi karyawan tentang wawasan perusahaan. 3) Sangat penting bagi Evergreen untuk memperhatikan harga, kualitas produk, dan konsistensi waktu dalam pemasaran. Karena itu, penting bagi bisnis untuk terus mempertahankan dan meningkatkan manajemen rantai pasokan untuk meningkatkan kualitas keunggulan kompetitif agar perusahaan dapat tetap kompetitif.
