Abstract

It is believed that in having an effective teaching and learning process, students’ engagement during the process is much needed. Teachers have crucial role in learning process especially during Covid-19 pandemic where teachers cannot ensure students’ participation like during offline classroom. Students’ behavioral engagement may be one of ways to guide students to listen to Him through teachings. Yet, this paper provided the reality where students’ behavioral engagement during online classroom is difficult to be had. The aim of this paper is to explain about teachers’ role in improving students’ behavioral engagement learning process and to what extend Christian teachers’ role in using learning media for improving students’ behavioral engagement. A qualitative descriptive research method is applied to gather data from senior high school students. The result shows students pay attention and engage behaviorally to the teaching when the learning media which are video, PowerPoint and Mentimeter used in the classroom can help them. The researcher suggests teachers take their roles in using learning media as one of ways in classroom to improve students’ behavioral engagement. It is hoped that Christian teachers may ask Holy Spirit to engage students and guide them by using learning media which will be used for improving students’ engagement.
