Abstract

The Bible as the source of knowledge and truth must take the central place in navigating the educational process through biblical integration. Biblical integration presents and demonstrates the Christian worldview which is revealed in the grand narrative framework creation-fall-redemption-consummation into the teaching and learning process, including in English classrooms. Even in the context of online learning, it is necessary to apply biblical integration. This paper aims to examine ways of biblical integration, challenges, and impacts of biblical integration in secondary online English classrooms. The methodology used in this paper is the qualitative method and literature study with data from reflections journal, lesson plan, and teacher-mentor’s feedback. The results of this study showed that the challenge of biblical integration is that the students find it difficult to understand the correlation of biblical perspective to the English topic; and the impacts of integrating biblical grand narrative include shaping worldview, thinking biblically on the English subject, and reflective learning. The researcher suggests English teachers make lesson plans with explicit biblical perspective and encourage discussions about it in the class; for school to conduct more professional developments on this topic; for future researchers do research on students’ perception of biblical integration.
