Abstract
Berdasarkan observasi di SMA X Semarang, ditemukan bahwa siswa kurang dapat memahami konsep persamaan lingkaran. Siswa menganggap sulitkarena banyaknya rumus yang harus dikuasai. Faktor lain adalah metode pengajaran guru yang kurang bervariasi. Maka, penulis memutuskan untuk menggunakan metode NHT untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan metode NHT dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep persamaan lingkaran siswa kelas XI SMA X Semarang.Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan di SMA X di Semarang. PTK ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 18
September – 6 November 2013. PTK ini terdiri dari tiga siklus yang melibatkan 17 orang siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis siswa, lembar observasi mentor, dan jurnal refleksi. Data yang telah didapat dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analitik deskriptif sederhana. Hasil tes tertulis siswa menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa meningkat dari 19% siswa yang lulus pada siklus pertama ke 87% siswa yang lulus pada siklus kedua dan 87% siswa yang lulus pada siklus ketiga melalui
penerapan metode NHT. Hasil observasi mentor juga menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui penerapan metode NHT yaitu dari 70,6% pada siklus pertama ke 80,2% pada siklus kedua ke 81,25% pada siklus
ketiga. / According to the observation that was done in SMA X Semarang, it is founded that students are having difficulties understanding circle equation. Students feel that it is difficult due to formulas that they need to learn. Another factor is the variety of teaching methodology. Thus, in order to improve understanding of the material, numbered heads together is used. This research is
done to determine whether the usage of NHT will affect the understanding of circle equation at 11th grade of SMA X in Semarang.This research is called Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) which was done in SMA X in Semarang. The observation was done on 18th of September until 6th of November 2013. It has three cycles which involves 17 students. Instruments
that are used consist of students’ written tests, mentor observation sheets, and reflective journal. Data that are gathered are analyzed using simple analytic descriptive technique. The result of the test shows that the conceptual understanding of the students increased from 19% which passes the first test up to 87% students that passes the second cycle and 87% passed the third cycle using the NHT method. Mentor observation also shows that student’s conceptual understanding increase using the NHT method which is 70.6% on the first cycle, 80.2% on the second cycle and 81.25% on the third cycle.
