Abstract

Symbolic thought and literacy learning have an important role for students in the future. However, distance learning put another challenge for teachers, parents and students. This research was conducted to analyze the symbolic thought and literacy learning by looking from student’s ability, learning process that has been done by teachers, and parents’ role during the online learning. The research design used is qualitative with case study approach. The informants in this research were two K1 teachers, principal and three parents of K1 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed through data collection, reduction, displayed, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that during online learning, students' symbolic thought and literacy skills were good, but adult’s guidance is needed. The learning process carried out by the teacher using printed media, audio visual and visual aids. The role of parents was also seen in assisting students during the lesson, providing support and practice other than school hours in an interesting way. So, symbolic thought and literacy learning can still be implemented for K1 students in online learning with full mentoring from parents. However, the teacher's efforts in providing and delivering interesting learning materials which in accordance with child's development stage are needed to support the learning progress. / Pembelajaran berpikir simbolik dan keaksaraan memiliki peran penting bagi siswa di masa mendatang. Namun, pembelajaran jarak jauh memberikan tantangan tersendiri bagi guru, orang tua dan siswa. Maka, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tentang pembelajaran berpikir simbolik dan keaksaraan selama pembelajaran daring dengan melihat kemampuan siswa, proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru serta peran orang tua. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah dua orang guru K1, kepala sekolah dan tiga orang tua siswa K1. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan wawancara mendalam. Tahap analisis data mencakup pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa selama pembelajaran daring kemampuan berpikir simbolik dan keaksaraan siswa sudah baik, namun tetap memerlukan bantuan orang dewasa. Proses pembelajaran dilakukan oleh guru menggunakan media cetak, audio visual dan alat peraga. Peran orang tua juga terlihat dalam mendampingi siswa selama pelajaran, memberi dukungan dan memberi latihan di luar jam pelajaran dengan cara yang menarik. Pembelajaran berpikir simbolik dan keaksaraan tetap dapat dilaksanakan untuk siswa K1 dengan pembelajaran daring dan pendampingan penuh dari orang tua. Namun, upaya guru dalam menyediakan maupun menyampaikan materi pembelajaran yang menarik dan sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan anak sangat diperlukan untuk mendukung kemajuan pembelajaran ini.
