Abstract
Setiap anak memiliki potensinya masing-masing dalam memelajari bahasa. Ada beberapa faktor yang memengaruhi pembelajar dalam mencapai kesuksesannya memelajari bahasa seperti usia, jenis kelamin, kecerdasan, motivasi, pola pikir kognitif, personaliti dan strategi belajar. Bimbingan dalam memelajari bahasa diperlukan guna mendapatkan hasil terbaik. Proses dalam mempelajari bahasa itu sendiri juga perlu didukung oleh strategi yang tepat kepada pembelajar tersebut. Strategi-strategi scaffolding dapat membantu pembelajar dalam mengonstruksi pemahaman anak usia dini dalam mencapai kesuksesan mempelajari bahasa tersebut dan keterampilan berbahasanya. Pada penelitian ini, desain penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif karena tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan investigasi mendalam pada pemahaman objek penelitian dalam proses memelajari bahasa. Objek penelitian merupakan dua anak usia dini berkebangsaan Korea yang bersekolah di sebuah sekolah internasional di mana bahasa Inggris digunakan dalam lingkungan sekolah. Instrumen-instrumen yang digunakan adalah berbagai buku cerita yang memiliki konstruksi kalimat bahasa Inggris dan juga permainan serta lagu. Penelitian ini mengemukakan bahwa strategi-strategi scaffolding membantu objek penelitian dalam mengonstruksi kalimat secara mandiri. / Every child has his/her own potentials in learning a language. There are several factors that influence the learners in achieving the success of language learning, such as ages, genders, aptitudes, motivations, cognitive styles, personalities and learning strategies. The guidance in language learning is required in order to attain the best results of learning a language. The process in learning the language itself should be supported by the appropriate strategies applied to the learners. The scaffolding strategies are able to help the learners in constructing the understanding of the young kids to attain their best in their successful learning of a language and its skills. In this study, the research design used was the qualitative method as the research is aimed to investigate the understanding of the participants in the process of language learning. The participants involved this study consisted of two young Korean learners who study in an International School where English is spoken in the school environment. The instruments used were various storybooks contained of sentences of Simple Present Continuous Tense as well as the games and songs. The findings reveal that scaffolding strategies help the participants in constructing their sentences independently.
