Abstract

The students’ achievement in learning process is not only measured on cognitive and psychomotoric success but also on their achievement to develop moral character as the basic knowledge before doing an action. Character development is continual guiding action to prepare self- regulation and maturity of the students in facing life wisely. Each student is expected to adhere and realize right moral values in real life practice. Character development is impacted by many factors such as parent’s involvement and school culture climate. This study aims to analyze the influence of parent’s involvement and school culture climate toward student’s character development in XYZ Elementary School which was implemented to 112 six grader students. Data from questionaire was analyzed by using SPSS statistical program assistance type 22. To solve the validity types, relationships, and influences is calculated by Pearson formula and regression, and the reliability using Cronbach Alpha. Based on the result of this study, there is a correlation and influence of parent’s involvement (0.21) and school culture climate (0.32) toward the character development. Moreover, both factors influenced positively as 0.38 to student’s character development in XYZ Elementary School. / Keberhasilan siswa dalam proses belajar sebaiknya tidak hanya diukur berdasarkan pencapaian kognitif dan keterampilan melainkan lebih daripada itu adalah pencapaian siswa dalam mengembangkan karakternya sebagai landasan pengetahuan dalam melakukan sesuatu. Pengembangan karakter adalah suatu tindakan pembimbingan berkelanjutan untuk mempersiapkan kedewasaan diri siswa dalam menghadapi tantangan kehidupan secara bijaksana. Setiap siswa diharapkan mampu menganut dan menyadari nilai moral yang benar dalam praktik dunia nyata. Pengembangan karakter siswa tersebut dipengaruhi dengan banyak faktor, diantaranya keterlibatan orangtua dan iklim budaya sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pengaruh keterlibatan orangtua dan iklim budaya sekolah terhadap pengembangan karakter siswa di Sekolah Dasar XYZ dengan jumlah subjek penelitian adalah 112 siswa kelas 6. Data berupa kuesioner akan diolah menggunakan alat bantuan program statistik SPSS tipe 22. Perhitungan validitas, hubungan dan pengaruh dilakukan dengan rumus Pearson dan regresi, serta perhitungan realiabilitas dengan menggunakan Cronbach Alpha. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh nilai korelasi dan nilai pengaruh antara keterlibatan orangtua (0.21) dan iklim budaya sekolah (0.32) terhadap pengembangan karakter siswa. Kedua faktor tersebut mempengaruhi pengembangan karakter siswa secara positif sebesar 0.38 di Sekolah Dasar XYZ.
