Abstract

XYZ Primary School has used the understanding of Christian Worldview as the skills of 21st century that needs to be developed. Based on the previous study and researcher’s observations, the data showed that some students have not had understanding of Christian Worldview and critical thinking skills yet. There is also a difference between tests question of social studies in grade IV and School Exam of social studies in grade VI to mastering the concepts that measure the skills to analyze and evaluate the students. It showed that the understanding of Christian Worldview, critical thinking skills, and mastering the concept of Social Studies need to be improved. Problem based learning (PBL) is a learning model with problems as its focus and students in group independently formulating, analyzing problems, summarizing hypothesis, collecting and grouping data, and determining the options of solutions. This research is quantitative research using experimental method of pretest-posttest control group design. The number of the subjects is 57. Grade IVA as the control class is 27 students with the lecturing method with media and answering questioning and Grade IVB has 30 students as the experimental class with PBL model. The hypothesis test is using Mann Whitney for understanding of Christian Worldview and independent t for critical thinking skills and mastering the concept. The result of the research is that there is no difference between using PBL model and lecturing method with media and answering questioning in understanding of Christian Worldview, critical thinking skills, and mastering the concept of social studies. / Sekolah SDK XYZ menambah pemahaman Christian Worldview sebagai keterampilan abad 21 yang perlu dikembangkan. Berdasarkan studi pendahuluan diperoleh data yaitu belum seluruh siswa kelas IV memiliki pemahaman Christian Worldview dan keterampilan berpikir kritis serta adanya perbedaan antara jumlah soal ulangan kelas IV dengan soal Ujian Sekolah kelas VI untuk penguasaan konsep yang mengukur kemampuan menganalisis dan mengevaluasi siswa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman Christian Worldview, keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan penguasaan konsep pelajaran IPS perlu ditingkatkan. Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) merupakan model pembelajaran dengan menjadikan masalah sebagai fokusnya dan siswa secara mandiri dalam berkelompok merumuskan masalah, menelaah masalah, merumuskan hipotesis, mengumpulkan dan mengelompokkan data, membuktikan hipotesis, dan menentukan pilihan penyelesaian. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimental jenis pretest-posttest control group design. Subyek penelitian berjumlah 57 siswa. Kelas IVA sebagai kelas kontrol berjumlah 27 siswa dengan metode ceramah berbantu media dan tanya jawab dan kelas IVB sebagai kelas eksperimen berjumlah 30 siswa dengan model PBL. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji Mann Whitney untuk pemahaman Christian Worldview dan uji t independent untuk keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep. Hasil penelitian yaitu tidak terdapat perbedaan pemahaman Christian Worldview, keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep pelajaran sosial yang menggunakan model PBL dengan metode ceramah berbantu media dan tanya jawab.
