Abstract

In this research study, the teacher takes improvement action by implementing Problem Based Learning (PBM) in problem solving: lack of problem solving ability, critical thinking ability and learning achievement. The objectives of the research are: to describe improvement steps by using problembased learning methods for developing critical thinking ability, problem solving ability, student’s achievement and identify the constraints during the process of action implementation and the solution. This research was conducted using a classroom action research method (CAR) which concluded in three cycles, and each cycle consists of four steps of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were analyzed descriptive qualitative. The result of the research shows that (1) corrective action is done 80% based on PBM steps, (2) there is improvement in problem solving ability about 19%, (3) there is an increase in critical thinking ability about 18%, (4) there is an increase of learning achievement about 5 points (5) There are time allocation, and students who are less active in groups during the process of implementation of the action takes place. This can be solved by teachers by allocating more up time and manage time more effectively, focusing on important material, actively monitoring the discussion process and motivating students to be actively involved. / Pada penelitian ini guru melakukan tindakan perbaikan dengan mengimplementasikan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBM) dalam mengatasi masalah: kurangnya kemampuan memecahkan masalah, kemampuan berpikir kritis, prestasi belajar. Tujuan penelitian yang dilakukan adalah: untuk mendeskripsikan langkah – langkah perbaikan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan prestasi belajar siswa dan mengidentifikasi kendala- kendala selama proses pelaksanaan tindakan dan cara mengatasinya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus, dan setiap siklus terdiri dari empat langkah perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa(1) tindakan perbaikan yang dilakukan mengikuti langkah – langkah PBM sebesar 84%, (2) terjadi peningkatan dalam kemampuan berpikir kritis meningkat sebesar 19% (3) terjadi peningkatan dalam kemampuan memecahkan masalah sebesar 18% (4) terjadi peningkatan nilai prestasi belajar dari sebesar 5 poin (5) Adanya kendala yaitu keterbatasan waktu, dan siswa yang kurang aktif dalam kelompok selama proses pelaksanaan tindakan berlangsung . Hal ini dapat diatasi oleh guru dengan mengalokasi waktu lebih baik lagi, berfokus pada materi penting, aktif memantau proses diskusi dan memotivasi siswa untuk terlibat aktif.
