Abstract

In Indonesia, Facebook is a social media with the largest number of users. Facebook has features such wall post, comment, share, and like. Its features contain information which used and informed by user of Facebook so that it can shape individual perceptions, individual opinions to eventually become public opinion. This study aims to determine the influence of using wall post, comment, share, and like in Facebook in shaping public opinion regarding Mirna’s Coffee Case. The Uses and Gratifications and Public Opinion theory is used to see the influence of social media usage. Research with this quantitative approach using survey research method. The respondent is 263 people who randomly selected and active Facebook users in Justice for Mirna page. The result show that the Facebook usage have influence in shaping public opinion. The variable with the biggest influence is wall post 59,9%, like 56,8%, comment 56,5%, and the smallest influence is share 18,1%. The conclusion is social media usage has an important role in shaping public opinion because people is now more gaining information from the media, especially Facebook. The more the cases discussed in Facebook, the shaping of public opinion will be easier to receive in each Facebook user’s thoughts. / Di Indonesia, Facebook merupakan media sosial dengan jumlah pengguna terbanyak. Media sosial ini memiliki fitur wall post, comment, share, dan like. Fitur tersebut merupakan informasi yang digunakan dan disampaikan pengguna Facebook sehingga dapat membentuk persepsi individu, opini individu, dan akhirnya menjadi opini publik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan fitur wall post, comment, share, dan like dalam media sosial Facebook terhadap pembentukan opini publik pada Kasus Kopi Mirna. Teori Uses and Gratifications dan Public Opinion digunakan untuk melihat pengaruh penggunaan media sosial tersebut. Penelitian dengan pendekatan kuantitatif ini menggunakan metode penelitian survei. Jumlah responden 263 orang dipilih secara acak dan mereka adalah pengguna aktif Facebook pada halaman Justice for Mirna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial Facebook dapat mempengaruhi pembentukan opini publik. Variabel dengan pengaruh terbesar adalah wall post sebesar 59,9%, variabel like sebesar 56,8%, variabel comment sebesar 56,5%, dan pengaruh terkecil adalah variabel share sebesar 18,1%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial Facebook memiliki peranan penting dalam pembentukan opini publik karena individu saat ini lebih banyak mengetahui informasi dari media, terutama media sosial Facebook. Semakin banyak kasus tersebut dibahas melalui fitur media sosial Facebook, pembentukan opini publik akan semakin mudah terjadi pada pemikiran masingmasing pengguna Facebook.
