Abstract

The goal of this theses is to see the influence of four factors, social media confidence, self-efficacy, privacy concern, and social media helpfulness towards social media fatigue phenomenon, especially to the social media users possessing Facebook, Instagram, and/or Path accounts in Jakarta area. Total respondents gathered on this research reached 191 social media users, using Likert scale to further measure variables used. Data collecting method was used using non-probability sampling with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3.2.6. Result of this research shows that social media confidence on respondents gives negative impact towards social media fatigue, implies that the more confidence respondent has towards his/her ability to use social media, the smaller the chance that person to experience social media fatigue due to information overload. Apart from that, privacy concern gives positive impact towards social media fatigue, giving implication that respondent’s concern towards privacy breach within social media scope will increase his/her tendency to experience social media fatigue. Other finding shows that social media self-efficacy and social media helpfulness have no negative impact towards the social media fatigue. / Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh dari keempat faktor yakni social media confidence, self-efficacy, privacy concern, serta social media helpfulness terhadap fenomena social media fatigue terutama pada pengguna media sosial yang memiliki akun Facebook, Instagram, dan/atau Path di wilayah Jakarta dan sekitarnya. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah sebanyak 191 orang, dengan menggunakan skala Likert untuk mengukur variabel-variabel yang digunakan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling dengan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan bantuan program SmartPLS 3.2.6. Hasil penelitian yang didapat adalah bahwa social media confidence pada responden akan memiliki pengaruh negatif terhadap social media fatigue, menunjukkan bahwa semakin percaya diri seseorang akan kemampuannya menggunakan media sosial, maka semakin kecil kemungkinannya untuk mengalami kelelahan dalam menggunakan media sosial dikarenakan terlalu banyaknya informasi yang diterima. Selain itu, privacy concern memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap social media fatigue, menandakan bahwa kekhawatiran akan terancamnya privacy didalam media sosial, maka akan semakin tinggi kecenderungannya untuk mengalami social media fatigue. Hasil lain yang didapatkan adalah bahwa social media self-efficacy dan social media helpfulness tidak berpengaruh negatif terhadap social media fatigue.
