Abstract

Child development is the main aspect that concerns Sekolah Bogor Raya, where stimulation and guidance are applied in the learning processes through various activities in classrooms. However, in reality the carried out activities are still limited, which impact to limited accommodation for students who have different level of understanding, making their attention, creativity and social skills low. A variety of hands-on activities is an alternative solution to increase students’ attention, creativity and social skills. Hands-on activity is a method of learning where students directly observe and involve in assigned activities. The more interesting the task is, the better the attention and recalling abilities are. This research aims to describe hands-on activity processes, analyze the development of attention, creativity and social skills of students, and also to identify its problems and solutions. This study applies a Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research was performed in three cycles and the subjects are 15 students of 4-5 years old at Sekolah Bogor Raya. Techniques and instruments in data collection of this research were accommodated by documents, observation, notes, documentation, rubrics and interviews. The result of this research shows that hands-on activity clearly improves students’ attention, creativity, and social skills. / Perkembangan siswa merupakan aspek utama yang menjadi perhatian Sekolah Bogor Raya, dimana rangsangan dan bimbingan diterapkan dalam proses pembelajaran melalui berbagai aktivitas di dalam kelas. Akan tetapi pada kenyataannya aktivitas yang dilakukan masih terbatas, hal tersebut menyebabkan tidak terakomodasinya siswa yang memiliki tingkat pemahaman yang berbeda, sehingga kemampuan atensi, kreativitas dan keterampilan sosial siswa masih rendah. Hands-on activity yang bervariasi merupakan alternatif solusi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan atensi, kreativitas dan keterampilan sosial. Hands-on Activity merupakan pembelajaran di mana siswa secara langsung mengamati dan memahami apa yang sedang terjadi. Semakin menarik suatu tugas, semakin besar kemungkinannya meningkatkan perhatian dan daya ingat siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan proses hands-on activity, menganalisis perkembangan atensi, kreativitas dan keterampilan sosial siswa, serta mengidentifikasi masalah dan solusinya. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini dilakukan dalam tiga siklus dan subjek penelitian adalah siswa usia 4-5 tahun di Sekolah Bogor Raya dengan jumlah 15 siswa. Teknik dan instrumen pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kelengkapan dokumen, observasi, catatan lapangan, dokumentasi, rubrik dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan atensi, kreativitas, dan keterampilan sosial siswa.
