Abstract

Indonesia dikenal memiliki budaya yang sangat kaya, sangat banyaknya sampai tidak terhingga, tetapi banyak juga yang ditelantarkan dan kurang dilestarikan, sehingga lama-kelamaan dapat hilang dan terlupakan begitu saja, untuk itu kebudayaan yang ada harus tetap terjaga cirikhasnya dan dapat berjalan mengikuti jaman. penulis melihat potensi pada perhiasan nifitali-tali dati Nias. proses pembuatan yang unik dan memiliki kombinasi teknik yang tidak bisa di temukan di perhiasan asal Indonesia lainnya, tapi sayangnya karena dari sisi kegunaan sudah tidak diperlukan lagi, jadi perlahan-lahan perhiasan mulai dilupakan bahkan masyarakat Nias pun banyak yang sudah tidak mengetahuinya dan pengrajinyang dapat membuatnya pun sudah tidak dapat ditemukan lagi. untuk itu penulis mengembangkan teknik pembuatan nifitali-tali yang lebih mudah agar bisa diproduksi di jaman sekarang, mengingat pembuatan aslinya membutuhkan keterampilan khusus sehingga sulit untuk dipelajari. selain itu desain yang dibuat untuk mengaplikasikan teknik tersebut juga memiliki desain kontemporer agar dapat menarik perhatian publik dan desain memiliki konsep yang merupakan latar belakang dari nifitali-tali agar cerita dibaliknya juga bisa tersampaikan/ Indonesian has been known for it’s rich and divers culture, but many of the culture has been neglected and not given as much attention as the others, because of that those culture has slowly forgotten, therefore the existing culture have to be improve so that it can go with times but still maintain it’s characteristic. The writer sees a great potential in nifitali-tali a jewelry from Nias. the making process is unique and the technique combination can not be seen in other traditional jewelry making technique from indonesia, but unfortunately as the society change the craftsmen who were able to make itnare no longer there because the jewelry has not been used for a long time. for these reason the writer has develop the technique for nifitali-tali jewelry making, to make it easier to produce in today’s world, for it’s original making technique has a lot of difficulties and the need of special skill that is difficult to learn without any guidance. In addition the design that is made to apply this technique has a contemporary look so that it can attract public attention and also the main concept of the design is the background of the nifitali-tali itself wich is head hunting tradition, so the story can be told alongside the jewelry.
