Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media sosial terhadap kinerja kerja karyawan melalui knowledge transfer. Berdasarkan teori media sosial, social capital dan knowledge transfer, penelitian ini menyajikan bahwa penggunaan media sosial di dalam pekerjaan dapat meningkatkan social capital dari pengguna media sosial tersebut. Social capital, yang direpresentasikan oleh network ties, shared vision, dan trust, serta knowledge transfer dapat meningkatkan kinerja kerja. Model penelitian ini diuji dengan menggunakan data yang terkumpul sebanyak 100 responden, diperoleh dari survei yang didistribusikan kepada karyawan profesional Indonesia dengan pengalaman kerja minimal tiga tahun dan merupakan anggota komunitas media sosial. Berdasarkan hasil olah data dapat diketahui bahwa penggunaan media sosial di pekerjaan dapat mempengaruhi pembentukan network ties, shared vision, dan trust. Network ties juga diketahui mampu mempengaruhi terjadinya knowledge transfer dan meningkatkan kinerja kerja. Sementara shared vision dan trust tidak mempunyai pengaruh terhadap knowledge transfer dan work performance. Knowledge transfer tidak berpengaruh terhadap work performance. Selain itu, penggunaan media sosial di pekerjaan dapat mempengaruhi knowledge transfer, yang dimediasikan oleh network ties, shared vision, dan trust. Demikian juga, media sosial dapat meningkatkan kinerja kerja, yang dimediasikan oleh network ties, shared vision, trust, dan knowledge transfer. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa bagi perusahaan- perusahaan yang berkeinginan untuk mengadopsi media sosial di dalam organisasinya, maka mereka harus menyiapkan kebijakan dan aturan terkait Kode Etik dan Do’s and Don’t’s dari penggunaan media sosial serta menetapkan jumlah waktu yang sesuai untuk penggunaan media sosial di lingkungan kerja, yang pada akhirnya, dapat menumbuhkan budaya saling percaya sehingga meningkatkan terjadinya knowledge transfer secara efektif yang mendorong kinerja yang lebih baik / This study is aimed to investigate the influence of social media use at work on employee’s work performance through knowledge transfer. Based on social media, social capital, and knowledge transfer theories, the study proposes that social media use at work can foster social capital of the social media users, and subsequently facilitate knowledge transfer. Social capital, which is represented by network ties, shared vision, and trust, as well as knowledge transfer, can promote work performance. The research model is tested using data collected from survey, which is distributed to 100 Indonesian working professionals with minimum 3 years of experiences and have social media community. The empirical results reveal that social media use at work can promote the formation of network ties, shared vision, and trust. Network ties also promote knowledge transfer and work performance. Shared vision and trust do not have a direct impact on knowledge transfer and work performance. As well, knowledge transfer does not have a direct impact on work performance. Further, social media at work can influence knowledge transfer, mediated by network ties, shared vision, and trust. In addition, social media at work can influence work performance, mediated by network ties, shared vision, trust, and knowledge transfer. Based on the study results, it is said that for companies that wish to adopt the social media within the organizations, they have to establish the guidelines governing the Code of Conduct and Do’s and Don’t’s of social media usage as well as providing the suitable amount of time to spend on social media, which in the end, will foster a climate of trust to promote the effective knowledge transfer in the workplace that drive performance
