Abstract

Penulisan perancangan ini bertujuan untuk memvisualkan buku karya I Ngurah Suryawan yang berjudul ‘Jiwa Yang Patah’ ke dalam sebuah media visual instalasi interaktif. Pemilihan buku tersebut dikarenakan kelengkapannya mengenai konteks permasalahan ketidakadilan perlakuan serta rasisme terhadap rakyat Papua di Indonesia. Hal tersebut berdampak pada masyarakat Papua, yang sampai sekarang, masih dianggap sebagai kaum minoritas oleh rakyat Indonesia. Tidak jarang rakyat Papua dianggap negatif dikarenakan tubuh fisik dan konteks sejarahnya. Inilah yang mendasari pembuatan perancangan ini. Buku ‘Jiwa Yang Patah’ memiliki isi konten yang sangat kaya dan informatif, sehingga berpotensi dapat divisualisasikan menjadi media visual instalasi interaktif agar dapat menjangkau lebih banyak target audiens. Alhasil melalui perancangan ini, audiens akan lebih disadarkan mengenai buruknya rasisme ke salah satu ras kita sendiri. Adapun pembahasan perancangan ini akan meliputi dalam ranah bidang desain komunikasi visual dan desain grafis. / The purpose of writing this design is to visualize the book by I Ngurah Suryawan, entitled ‘Jiwa Yang Patah’ into an interactive visual media installation. This book was chosen for its completeness regarding the context of the problem of unfair treatment and racism against the Papuan people in Indonesia. This has an impact on the Papuan people, who until now, are still considered a minority by the Indonesian people. It is not uncommon for the Papuan people to be considered negative because of their physical body and historical context. This is what underlies the making of this design. The book ‘Jiwa Yang Patah’ contains rich and informative content, so that it can potentially be visualized as an interactive visual installation media in order to reach a wider target audience. As a result, through this design, the audience will be more aware of the badness of racism to one of our own races. The discussion of this design will cover the realm of visual communication design and graphic design.
