Abstract

Memori pada dasarnya adalah bagaimana seseorang dapat mengingat sebuah pengalaman yang dia alami. Karena memori, sebuah objek atau seseorang memiliki identitas yang memisahkan mereka dengan objek atau orang yang lain. Sama seperti manusia, memori juga memiliki peran penting dalam perancangan arsitektur. Namun, banyak arsitektur yang tidak menyadari kepentingan konsep mengingat itu dan pada akhirnya mereka melupa. Salah satu contohnya adalah Pasar Glodok. Sebagai kawasan pecinan yang memiliki mayoritas penduduk beretnis Tionghoa, Glodok sering menjadi sasaran kebencian terutama pada bulan Mei tahun 1998. Peristiwa ini merupakan momen penting bagi Indonesia. Glodok adalah salah satu contoh kawasan dimana jejak-jejak kerusuhan masih dapat dilihat meskipun perlahan-lahan jejak tersebut menghilang dan digantikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua teori arsitektur, teori arsitektur naratif dan teori arsitektur simbolik. Kedua teori ini digunakan untuk menganalisis studi preseden yang menggunakan konsep mengingat pada desainnya. Studi preseden itu kemudian menghasilkan tabel atribut memori yang kemudian digunakan sebagai dasar analisis kawasan Glodok dan bagaimana Pasar Glodok melupa tragedi Mei 1998. Kedua analisis tersebut kemudian menghasilkan sebuah strategi desain yang dapat digunakan untuk mengingat sebuah peristiwa melalui arsitektur. Hasil analisis dan strategi desain kemudian digunakan untuk merancang sebuah Memorial Museum di kawasan Glodok yang mengingat peristiwa Mei 1998. Perancangan ini terdiri dari tiga program utama. Program pertama merupakan museum sebagai ruang exhibition yang berfungsi sebagai ruang edukasi yang menceritakan kejadian peristiwanya. Program kedua merupakan taman memorial. Taman memorial sendiri terbagi menjadi dua, bagian pertama merupakan ruang ekspresif di tengah museum yang menyampaikan rasa kehilangan korban peristiwa dan bagian kedua merupakan ruang memorial korban kerusuhan yang terdapat di level ground yang mengenang setiap korban peristiwanya. Program ketiga adalah auditorium yang merupakan kelanjutan dari museum sebagai wadah interaksi antara masyarakat. Hasil dari analisis tersebut juga dapat digunakan dalam perancangan arsitektur memorial museum kedepannya. / Memory at its core is how a person can remember an experience they had. Because of memory, an object or person has an identity that separates them from other objects or people. Just like humans, memory also has an important role in architectural design. However, many architects do not realize the importance of the concept of remembering and in the end, they forget. One example is Pasar Glodok. As a Chinatown area that has an ethnic Chinese majority population, Glodok has often been the target of hatred, especially in May 1998 riots. This incident was an important moment for Indonesia. Glodok is an example of an area where traces of rioting can still be seen, although slowly they are disappearing and being replaced. This study uses two architectural theories, narrative architectural theory and symbolic architectural theory. These two theories are used to analyse precedent studies that use the concept of remembering in their designs. The precedent study then produced a memory attribute table which was then used as the basis for an analysis of the Glodok area and how Pasar Glodok forgot the May 1998 riots. Both analysis then produced a design strategy that could be used to remember an event through architecture. The results of the analysis and design strategy are then used to design a Memorial Museum in the Glodok area which remembers the May 1998 riots. This design consists of three main programs. The first program is a museum as an exhibition space that functions as an educational space that tells the events of the riots. The second program is a memorial park. The memorial park itself is divided into two parts, the first part is an expressive room in the middle of the museum which conveys the feeling of the loss of victims of the incident and the second part is a memorial for riot victims located on the ground level which commemorates each victims of the incident. The third program is an auditorium which is a continuation of the museum as a forum for interaction between people. The results of this analysis can also be used in the design of the museum's memorial architecture in the future.
