Abstract

Generation Z has an essential role in the future, however they face significant challenges from the current world of VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity), which causes Generation Z to experiencing anxiety or fear of the future. They need to have strong faith to face the various challenges that can be built through discipleship in the form of KTB (Growing Together Groups). The role of the KTB leader as a shepherd leader is crucial in providing guidance, leadership, and exemplary in good relationships. This study aims to identify the important role of shepherd leadership for Christian teachers in effective discipleship for generation Z at XYZ Senior High School in South Tangerang and also demonstrates the significant impact of shepherd leadership on Christian teachers who make disciples of generation Z. This study uses a case study model as one of a qualitative approach. Research subjects are eight KTB leaders and three KTB members. The instruments used were interviews, FGDs, and document study. This study indicates that the role of shepherd leadership for Christian teachers has a significant impact on the discipleship of generation Z to help them have strong faith in Christ, grow in character, and impact others through the talents that God has given. The challenges faced in carrying out this role are that not all students and teachers are involved in KTB and the pandemic situation that limits relations and communication between leaders and members of KTB. Keywords: Generation Z, Shepherd Leadership, Discipleship/Generasi Z memiliki peran penting di masa depan, namun mereka menghadapi tantangan yang signifikan dari dunia VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) saat ini, yang menyebabkan generasi Z mengalami kecemasan atau ketakutan akan masa depan. Mereka perlu memiliki iman yang kuat untuk menghadapi berbagai tantangan yang bisa dibangun melalui pemuridan dalam bentuk KTB (Kelompok Tumbuh Bersama). Peran pemimpin KTB sebagai shepherd leader sangat penting dalam memberikan bimbingan, kepemimpinan, dan keteladanan dalam relasi yang baik di dalam KTB. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peran penting shepherd leadership guru Kristen dalam pemuridan yang efektif bagi generasi Z di SMA XYZ di Tangerang Selatan dan menunjukkan dampak signifikan shepherd leadership guru Kristen yang memuridkan generasi Z. Penelitian ini menggunakan model studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subyek penelitian yaitu delapan pemimpin dan tiga anggota KTB. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah wawancara, FGD, dan studi dokumen. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa peran shepherd leadership guru Kristen memiliki dampak yang signifikan pada pemuridan murid generasi Z memiliki iman yang kuat kepada Kristus, bertumbuh dalam karakter, dan berdampak pada orang lain melalui talenta yang Tuhan berikan. Tantangan yang dihadapi dalam menjalankan peran shepherd leadership adalah tidak semua siswa dan guru terlibat dalam KTB dan situasi pandemi yang membatasi relasi dan komunikasi antara pemimpin dan anggota KTB. Kata kunci: generasi Z, kepemimpinan gembala, pemuridan.
