Abstract

This research was conducted at PT Kota Mas Permai Medan to test the effect of motivation on employee performance at PT Kota Mas Permai Medan. This research uses the theories about motivation and the effect to employee performance. One of the theories used explained that motivation has effect on employee performance. The framework of this research is to find out the relationship between motivation and employee performance. The method used by the writer in this research is simple linear regression. Data used in this research are primary data and secondary data. This research uses hypothesis test and coefficient of determination to know the effect of motivation and employee performance. For the study, PT Kota Mas Permai is chosen with 110 respondents representing the company from 150 total populations. The sample is determined with Slovin, margin of error 5% and using simple random sampling. Based on research result, the simple linear regression showed equation of Y = -3.936 + 0.901X. It means that variable motivation has a straight relationship to employee performance. The conclusion on this research is the hypothesis test showed that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, and it means motivation has effect on employee performance at PT Kota Mas Permai Medan. To improve this research, other researchers can add the number of the respondents and it is suggested to add the independent variables that affect the employee performance. / Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT Kota Mas Permai Medan untuk menguji pengaruh motivasi terhadap kinerja karyawan di PT.Kota Mas Permai Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori tentang motivasi dan pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja karyawan. Salah satu teori yang digunakan menjelaskan bahwa motivasi berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan. Kerangka penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan motivasi dengan kinerja karyawan. Metode yang digunakan penulis dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi linier sederhana. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji hipotesis dan koefisien determinasi untuk mengetahui pengaruh motivasi terhadap kinerja karyawan. Untuk Penelitian ini dipilih PT Kota Mas Permai dengan 110 responden yang mewakili perusahaan dari 150 total populasi. Pengambilan sampel ditentukan dengan slovin, margin of error 5% dan simple random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, regresi linier sederhana menunjukkan persamaan Y = -3.936 + 0.901X. Artinya variabel motivasi mempunyai hubungan langsung dengan kinerja karyawan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, artinya motivasi berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan pada PT Kota Mas Permai Medan. Untuk meningkatkan penelitian ini, peneliti lain dapat menambah jumlah responden dan disarankan untuk menambah variabel bebas yang berpengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan.
